Overview

The Industrial Maintenance Technician I (Maintenance Mechanic) position involves skilled maintenance, fabrication, overhaul, and repair of mechanical equipment in water and wastewater facilities. The role is under direct supervision and includes responsibilities such as troubleshooting and preventative maintenance, while ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review system designs, specifications, and products, and recommend changes in mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems and recommend corrective actions based on mechanical repair practices.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repair work on water/wastewater facilities and equipment.
  • Fabricate and machine repair parts for equipment, including welding steel, brass, and aluminum.
  • Operate lathes, mill/drill presses, welders, and various other metal working tools.
  • Locate leaks and detect defects in water/wastewater equipment and machinery.
  • Monitor, review, and validate work practices for quality control and safety standards.
  • Input and gather data from the Supervisory Control Data Acquisition system (SCADA) and run reports as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a water and/or wastewater treatment facility.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
