Overview

As a Pipeline Specialist at Kinder Morgan, you will coordinate and complete pipeline operations and maintenance tasks in support of various functions including plant, pipeline, and mechanical maintenance. The role involves hands-on work with heavy excavation equipment and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hot tapping and stopple equipment, perform valve maintenance, pigging operations, and pipe cleaning.
• Lead and train others, ensure compliance, and oversee contractors.
• Perform excavation spotter tasks and manage excavation crossings of lines.
• Troubleshoot and maintain DOT mainline isolation valves.
• Launch, monitor, and receive pipeline pigs and develop pigging plans.
• Disassemble meter tubes and perform internal cleaning.
• Operate large truck and trailer hauling equipment.
• Calibrate and maintain holiday detectors for coating inspection.
• Perform pressure tests of pipelines and fabrications.
• Locate and mark pipelines using detection equipment.
• Repair shorted pipeline casings and install CP test points.
• Prepare pipelines for anomaly repairs.
• Evacuate, purge, and load pipelines; operate pipeline air-movers.
• Perform basic acetylene cutting and beveling operations.
• Handle administrative tasks including ordering parts and maintaining time sheets.
• Act as a company representative when interacting with contractors and vendors.
• Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must follow safety, environmental, and regulatory policies.
• Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance.
• Ability to operate heavy pipeline excavation equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret company policies and blueprints.
• Good communication skills and basic computer skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to work with a team and focus on customer service.
• Must have or acquire a valid CDL driver license.

Additional Information

• Typical work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day, with potential for overtime.
• Significant overnight travel upwards of 70% or more is required.
• Must live or relocate within 60 miles of reporting location.
• Safety-sensitive position requiring drug testing and motor vehicle record checks.
