Overview

Working for a world-class leader in building structures and bridges, a Schuff Steel Team Leader brings expertise in steel materials to supervise and coordinate production employees in the fabrication of raw materials and parts. This position is critical to the production process, ensuring that production needs are met while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that production staff adheres to all applicable safety standards through training and accountability.
  • Provides guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership while directly supervising production staff to meet established production and quality standards.
  • Communicates the vision of the project objectives to the team.
  • Motivates and holds the team accountable.
  • Provides training to production staff as needed.
  • Holds employees accountable to established production and quality standards.
  • Encourages constant improvement and leads by example.
  • Adheres to and follows all safety rules and PPE requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three years of directly related experience.
  • Completion of a closely related vocational training course may substitute for one year of required experience.
  • Knowledge of welding and steel-working processes and equipment, including cranes and rigging, forklifts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Understanding of safe and proper operation of common machinery in a steel fabrication environment.
