Overview

The Pipefitter position at the Kansas City VA Medical Center involves providing journeyman-level pipefitting services, including the installation, modification, and repair of various pressure piping systems. The role requires reading blueprints and ensuring compliance with safety and code standards.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing pressure piping systems for steam, heating, and related equipment.
  • Reads and follows blueprints, sketches, and building plans for planning and laying out piping systems.
  • Sizes and determines proper pitch, elevation, and placement of piping for safe operation.
  • Routes piping installations and ensures mechanical correctness by selecting proper materials.
  • Joins, seals, and tests all piping joints for leak-free performance.
  • Uses hand and power tools of the pipefitter trade to complete installation and repair work safely and efficiently.
  • Ensures all work complies with VA standards, safety requirements, and established trade practices.
