Overview

LightSpeed Build Technologies is revolutionizing the construction industry through AI-powered robotics, focusing on automated systems for wall panel manufacturing and on-site construction. The Robotics Technician will play a crucial role in building and modifying robotic systems to enhance homebuilding efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Modify and retrofit tools and equipment for robotic control.
  • Install and wire sensors, switches, actuators, and I/O; route and terminate cabling.
  • Assemble, align, and calibrate robot cells, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults on arms and tooling.
  • Work safely around energized and moving equipment.
  • Document machine states and changes, including redlining schematics.
  • Establish preventive maintenance routines and spare parts lists.
  • Support demos and test runs end to end.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Hands-on trade experience in a mechanical or technical field.
  • Confident with hand and power tools, drilling, and tapping.
  • Fluent with metrology tools like calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and follow tolerances.
  • Knowledge of safe practices around industrial equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic skills for troubleshooting machinery.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change.
  • Clear communication skills, including documentation.

Additional Information

  • On-site at Northbrook, IL facility, 5 days/week.
  • Shop environment with noise, sawdust, and moving machinery.
  • Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs; stand, kneel, and climb for a full shift.
  • Occasional evenings or weekends ahead of demos and milestones.
