Overview

The Maintenance Technician position at Vantage involves providing repair and maintenance support in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation areas at the Chicago Oleo Plant. The role requires performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting equipment issues while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of plant-wide equipment during production.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Conduct mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders for maintenance tasks.
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
  • Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment as directed.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on various equipment.
  • Use hand and power tools for routine equipment maintenance.
  • Operate powered man lifts and scissor lifts for safe access to equipment.
  • Transport and lift equipment using forklifts and other specialist equipment.
  • Certify plant instruments following established ISO guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical/instrumentation problems and carry out repairs.
  • Install new equipment as required.
  • Maintain and upgrade plant facilities as needed.
  • Complete record keeping documentation including work orders and safety permits.
  • Responsible for food safety related to designated area.
  • Report any food safety and quality related issues to management immediately.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
  • City of Chicago Electricians license.
  • Trade School Certificate.
  • 3-5 years of applicable maintenance experience in a manufacturing process plant environment, preferably Chemical or Petro Chemical.
  • Ability to pass third party trade tests as required.

Additional Information

  • Work indoors 85% of the time and outdoors 15% of the time.
  • General lifting up to 50 lbs maximum.
