Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician II to work at our plant located in Forest View, IL, near Midway Airport. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility systems within a chemical production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment and facility systems.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, assembly drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Install, maintain, and repair process piping systems up to 3 inches.
  • Maintain and repair rotating equipment including pumps and gearboxes.
  • Assist with the planning, installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment.
  • Participate in reliability improvement initiatives as directed by management.
  • Prioritize and execute planned work orders while responding to unplanned maintenance needs.
  • Document maintenance activities within the CMMS system.
  • Develop and maintain standardized repair procedures.
  • Apply 5S principles and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Exercise stop-work authority and report safety concerns.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Perform work in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Maintenance, Operations, and Reliability teams.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with CMMS software.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately complete maintenance documentation.
  • Basic mathematical skills required for maintenance calculations.
  • Experience with plumbing, pipefitting, and process piping systems is a plus.
  • Ability to safely operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT).
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and maintaining organized work areas.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Additional Information

  • This role is for 2nd shift, which is 3pm - 11:30pm.
  • Candidates must be available to work first-shift hours during the initial training period.
  • Opportunity for overtime based on business requirements.
  • Some mandatory Saturdays and an after-hours rotating call-in schedule.
