Overview

La Forge de Style US specializes in high-end custom architectural metalwork and handcrafted metal furnishings. They are looking for an experienced Architectural and Furniture Metal Fabricator to join their workshop in South Hackensack, NJ, capable of working independently from shop drawings to final completion.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret architectural, furniture and shop drawings.
  • Measure, lay out, mark, and cut raw materials.
  • Fabricate, fit, and assemble architectural metalwork.
  • Perform TIG and MIG welding.
  • Grind, sand, and pre-finish fabricated pieces.
  • Inspect finished work for accuracy, alignment, fit, and quality.
  • Operate shop machinery and hand tools.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in metal fabrication, preferably in architectural or custom metalwork.
  • OSHA training or certification is an asset.
  • Working proficiency in English required.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
