Overview

Build a meaningful career as a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Transportation, where you will help keep buildings, equipment, and grounds operating safely and smoothly for the community. This role combines skilled repair work with hands-on support for field crews and facility needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair county buildings, stockpiles, and facility structures.
  • Service electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety systems and identify needed follow-up work.
  • Repair machinery, small engines, and assist diesel mechanics with major vehicle repairs.
  • Mow lawns, clear snow, and complete exterior cleaning and upkeep tasks.
  • Create building forms and complete masonry work for walls, sidewalks, and related structures.
  • Deliver fuel, pick up parts, inspect fire extinguishers, and support storeroom tasks during winter.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 or equivalent.
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
  • Must possess a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Additional Information

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work schedule is subject to change during summer or winter seasons.
  • Shift work, overtime, and travel are required.
  • Telework is not an option for this position.
