Overview

The Mechanical Designer within the Engineering Team is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing mechanical solutions for projects and products, bridging the gap between engineering concepts and manufacturing feasibility.

Responsibilities

  • Support 3D and 2D design development using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Actively participate in meetings with interdisciplinary teams and vendors.
  • Create data sheets and specifications to provide complete packages and related materials to responsible parties.
  • Lay out equipment per P&ID.
  • Generate manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies, determine manufacturing processes and specify appropriate materials/specifications.
  • Prepare fabrication-ready design packages.
  • Support the supervision of activities performed by external fabrication and engineering subcontractors.
  • Evaluate construction methods and assess plan cost-effectiveness based on industry experience.
  • Complete assigned tasks on schedule and within budget while meeting all project and task requirements.
  • Assist with creating and managing BOM documentation and equipment specifications.
  • Apply sound engineering practices, national and international standards, and project technical specifications.
  • Optimize designs for cost, schedule, quality, and operability.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and design feasibility.
  • Identify, define, and deliver effective solutions to emerging issues.
  • Revise designs to meet requirements and resolve malfunctions.
  • Collect input from operators, process engineers, electrical engineers, fabricators and other disciplines to drive continuous improvement.
  • Continuously learn and develop new theories, methods, or approaches.
