Overview

Maintenance Technician G3 is a third-level technician at Marzetti Company, required to meet the expectations defined in Levels G1, G2, and G3, as well as elevated expectations for Level G5. The role involves mastering key result expectations and may include specific focus areas based on plant needs.

Responsibilities

  • Completes individual lockout/tagout training and demonstrates ability to identify lock locations and follow procedures.
  • Follows all safety protocols and wears appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Follows directions for basic assembly and repair of equipment.
  • Assists other maintenance techs on projects and rebuilds.
  • Learns locations and proper descriptions of lines and equipment.
  • Learns to locate parts in the parts room and sign out correctly.
  • Completes paperwork for checklists, work orders, and other documentation.
  • Learns to enter and complete work orders in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Performs repair work on production equipment, processing equipment, and buildings/grounds as assigned.
  • Initiates work efforts independently when possible to complete assigned tasks.
  • Willing to work regular shift hours, off-shift hours, overtime, and be on call as needed.
  • Starts and safely stops key equipment including carton erector, filler, packing robot, conveyors, labelers, and carton closers.
  • Adjusts box erectors/closers for specific carton sizes.
  • Disassembles and reassembles filler pumps using the correct O-rings.
  • Removes and installs the cup dropper where applicable.
  • Changes lidding roll and threads onto the machine in the correct path.
  • Installs and removes heater assemblies correctly.
  • Installs and removes lid knife assemblies correctly.
  • Understands the fundamental operation of the pick-and-place robots.
  • Makes minor adjustments to the carton divider inserter.
  • Starts or stops inkjet coding systems and aligns printer head.
  • Performs PM duties as assigned with minor supervision.
  • Interprets basic machine diagrams to identify needed parts.
  • Rebuilds heater and cup dropper assemblies as needed.
  • Uses a Multimeter or Amp probe to detect power.
  • Operates all packaging equipment at the production level.
  • Changes package selection on packing robots for different product sizes.
  • Interprets complex wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all mechanical equipment in assigned areas.
  • Troubleshoots 3-phase motor controls and performs repairs.
  • Replaces and wires three-phase and single-phase motors correctly.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical control issues.
  • Uses Input and Output indications on a PLC to diagnose and repair components.
  • Fabricates or modifies mechanical components for equipment.
  • Performs minor stick or TIG welds to repair damaged components.
  • Performs complete line changeovers as product demand dictates.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead maintenance projects.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical issues with HVAC systems.
  • Attends and passes Ammonia Operator 1 training.
  • Possesses complete operational knowledge of the wastewater system.
  • Demonstrates ability to replace and commission faulty Allen Bradley drives.

Requirements

  • To be qualified for the Maintenance Technician level G2 level and eventually operate at a G5 level with training and certifications.
