Job Description

Overview

The Welding Supervisor for the 3rd Shift reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for overseeing all welding production areas, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Runs and coordinates departments based on the production schedule and reports quantities and salvage to Excel sheets.
  • Coordinates production to meet defined HPS goals and maintains a 43 hours/week/employee schedule.
  • Enforces 5S LEAN housekeeping rules to keep the shop floor clean and organized.
  • Monitors employee efficiency and develops corrective actions if goals are not met.
  • Demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures to new employees and verifies adherence to work instructions.
  • Ensures that all work instructions are in place daily.
  • Initiates tickets for Major/Minor and safety critical programs and retrains employees for infractions.
  • Confers with the Quality Department on quality issues and takes corrective actions.
  • Resolves employee issues, complaints, or grievances in collaboration with management and HR.
  • Completes employee performance evaluations.
  • Initiates Discipline Documentation per company policies.
  • Verifies employee attendance and coordinates with HR for accurate timekeeping.
  • Communicates with the Maintenance Department regarding equipment downtime.
  • Directs area Leads to properly tag and place non-conforming materials.
  • Ensures compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Participates in corrective action teams to address root causes.
  • Performs any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good leadership abilities and capability to maintain a teamwork environment.
  • Minimum of two years of prior work experience in welding with supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to use applicable hand tools correctly and safely.
  • Ability to enforce company rules and policies.
  • Knowledge of company products, quality, and safety policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Highly dependable, motivated, and self-driven with excellent attendance.
  • Ability to follow and understand Work Instructions.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and write legibly as per company standards.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Understanding of Basic Processes.
