Overview

The Welder position in Charlotte, MI involves assembling, securing, and welding metal parts while interpreting complex blueprints. The role requires minimal supervision and includes fabricating metal components according to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Read and comprehend blueprints.
  • Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding from blueprints.
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure them for welding.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts using GMAW MIG.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school in welding/fabrication or relevant experience.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling, or bending positions.
  • Ability to work arms above head and from crawling or lying positions.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out instructions detailed in blueprints.
  • Ability to understand and operate all safety equipment in the area.
  • Proficient in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Proficient in computation of rate, ratio, and percent in practical situations.
  • GED/High School Diploma or Experience, Technical degree/certificate preferred.
  • Prior fabrication experience preferred.
  • 1 year or more of MIG welding experience.
