Job Description

Overview

The Welder is responsible for assembly securing and welding metal parts, reading and interpreting blueprints, and fabricating metal components according to specifications with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and comprehends blueprints.
  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding from blueprints.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts using GMAW MIG.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school in welding/fabrication or relevant experience.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling, or bending positions.
  • Ability to work arms above head and from crawling or lying positions.
  • Ability to read, understand and carry out instructions as detailed in blueprints.
  • Ability to understand and operate all safety equipment in the area.
  • Proficient in adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division in all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Proficient in computation of rate, ratio, and percent and its application in practical situations.
  • Education: GED/High School Diploma or Experience, Technical degree/certificate preferred.
  • Prior fabrication experience preferred.
  • 1 year or more of MIG welding experience preferred.
