Overview

The Senior Coil Test Tank Welding Specialist leads safety huddles and conducts leak tests in the Coil Department, focusing on diagnosing and repairing coil leaks while mentoring junior mechanics and ensuring quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety huddles and review the coil schedule.
  • Diagnose and repair coil leaks.
  • Guide teammates on quality standards and improve procedures.
  • Mentor junior mechanics and ensure coil quality metrics are accurate.
  • Champion a safety-first culture and enforce safety rules.
  • Test coils at the tank and perform precise leak repairs.
  • Update and post key metrics and maintain the coil proficiency log.
  • Conduct daily reviews of scheduled work to meet production commitments.
  • Validate the Quality metric report and resolve discrepancies.
  • Interpret work tickets and complete daily ISO documentation.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads, Inspectors, and Supply Chain.
  • Support ongoing training for safety and quality procedures.
  • Drive LEAN principles and standardize best practices.
  • Report near misses and advance safety performance.
  • Minimize waste and progress sustainability initiatives.
  • Innovate and implement better methods and systems.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of coil department experience.
  • Strong product knowledge of coil and assembly processes.
  • Clear written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Proven initiative, problem-solving ability, and teamwork.
  • General knowledge of BAC-related equipment construction.
  • Ability to read welding symbols and assembly drawings.
  • Measurement skills including ruler, combination square, and micrometer.
  • Proficient in oxy-fuel and plasma arc cutting.
  • Certified to operate overhead cranes and jib booms.
  • Lean and Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Strong command of ISO procedures and policies.
  • Safety commitment and awareness of typical hazards.

Additional Information

  • Working environment includes lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Standing is expected up to 80% of the time.
  • Working hours can include any of three shifts, generally scheduled for forty hours a week.
