Overview

At Motorola Solutions, we are dedicated to keeping people safer through innovative technology. The Solder and Rework Technician role involves providing technical support for the assembly and repair of electronic assemblies in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fine-pitch surface mount (SMT) and through-hole (PTH) soldering, desoldering, removal, and replacement of components.
  • Repair damaged PCB traces, pads, eyelets, ground planes, and laminate surfaces.
  • Perform precision wire stripping, tinning, splicing, pin crimping, and direct-to-board wiring or connector termination.
  • Follow engineering change orders (ECOs), assembly drawings, schematics, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in high-reliability electronics assembly, solder rework, and PCBA troubleshooting.
  • Active or recent certification in IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001.
  • Proficiency with stereo microscopes, high-magnification scopes, hot-air rework stations, vacuum desoldering tools, and thermal tweezers.
  • Experience reading schematics, blueprints, bill of materials (BOM), and mechanical drawings.
  • Solid understanding of ESD control protocols and lead-free vs. leaded solder processes.
  • High manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visual acuity to work under magnification for extended periods.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
