The Electromechanical Assembler role involves building, wiring, and testing aerospace instruments with a focus on manual dexterity and adherence to strict work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble subassemblies and final instruments according to released work instructions, drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Perform through-hole soldering, wire stripping, crimping, and harness routing in accordance with IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Apply thread lockers, torque fasteners to spec, and align mechanical assemblies using fixtures and gauges.
  • Operate basic test equipment to perform continuity checks and functional verification.
  • Record serial numbers, lot codes, and operation signoffs on travelers.
  • Identify nonconforming components or workmanship and route them through the Material Review process.
  • Work in an ESD-controlled environment and follow handling procedures for sensitive electronic components.
  • Maintain FOD discipline at the bench and protect open assemblies.
  • Support continuous improvement by suggesting fixture, process, or documentation enhancements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good manual dexterity and color vision for wire identification.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions and mechanical drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic hand tools or willingness to be trained.
  • For mid-level candidates: 1–3 years of hands-on assembly experience, preferably with electromechanical or electronic products.
