Overview

As a Ground Maintenance Technician (GMT) in a motorized role at Delta Air Lines, you will be part of the Ground Support Equipment team, specializing as a vehicle/heavy equipment mechanic responsible for repairing vehicles and various airport systems and equipment. This position requires a two-year degree from a technical school or three years of demonstrated ability.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and overhaul all components like truck chassis, body, and drive-train components on a diverse body of equipment.
  • Perform electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair, painting, bodywork, and technical work.
  • Complete data entry to record work assignments and connect with other company personnel as needed.
  • Repair and perform maintenance on a mix of motorized equipment as well as bodywork and other technical work.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be proficient in English.
  • Ability to lift items weighing between 50 and 70 pounds.
  • Be willing to work a fixed and/or rotating schedule including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must achieve a satisfactory score on entry tests structured to determine ability to perform required tasks.

  • External applicants hired to work at JFK airport receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
  • Eligible Delta employees based in New York City can be reimbursed up to $250 per month for specific transportation expenses.
