Overview

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is seeking a Buildings Millwright - First Class to inspect, disassemble, repair, and replace electro-mechanical equipment, ensuring reliable and efficient services in the transportation sector.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect visually, disassemble, repair, or replace various mechanical equipment such as cranes, hoists, vehicle washers, tanks, elevators, escalators, pumps, air compressors, and turnstile equipment.
  • Erect scaffolding and perform rigging as required.
  • Locate electrical trouble and diagnose using various electrical testing devices, repairing electrical issues as needed.
  • Manufacture, install, and repair parts such as bushings, bearings, pulleys, gears, belts, and gaskets related to mechanical equipment.
  • Comply with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures and report any safety concerns.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license or equivalent.
  • Must have three years relevant full-time work experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
  • Successful completion of trade school curriculum in a relevant area may substitute for up to one year of work experience.
  • Must have experience in cutting and threading pipe up to two inches in diameter.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment and performance tests as required.
  • Must have knowledge of regulatory agency codes and requirements.
  • Will be required to possess or obtain hand tools as designated by the position's tool list.
