Overview

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) provides essential wholesale water, wastewater, and solid waste management services to over two million residents in North Texas. The Industrial Mechanic role involves performing skilled maintenance on various treatment and production equipment to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains water and wastewater treatment and production equipment.
  • Facilitates mechanical repairs to keep equipment operating efficiently.
  • Orders and purchases parts for prompt repairs and maintenance.
  • Coordinates with operations personnel to ensure critical equipment is operational.
  • Assists other departments during emergency repairs or routine maintenance.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance tasks as specified.
  • Observes safe work practices and uses safety equipment properly.
  • Trains Assistants and new hires in safe work methods and troubleshooting.
  • Maintains and promotes safe work practices.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one-year experience in maintenance of mechanical equipment in the water/wastewater treatment industry.
  • TCEQ Water/Wastewater license preferred.
  • Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to read and understand technical manuals and drawings.
  • Must be able to explain repairs and maintenance clearly.
  • Must comprehend and administer written and oral instructions.
  • Must become proficient in the District Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Must possess considerable knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Additional Information

  • Personnel assigned to a shift work location will work a regular twelve-hour shift schedule.
  • Personnel not assigned to a shift work location will be on a rotational 'ONCALL' status.
