Overview

At Sabre Industries, we connect and power America’s communities with world-class utility and telecom solutions. This position performs production within prescribed codes, and according to prescribed procedures, specifications, and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Uses the Flux Cored Arc Welding process to tack weld various small components to make a pole assembly.
  • Works in the Large Pole department to assemble pole assemblies and assist material handlers.
  • Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed for assembly.
  • Uses measuring tools to measure distances and angles accurately.
  • Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel.
  • Moves around components to accurately measure and assemble parts.
  • Uses motorized tools to help assemble pole assemblies according to specifications.
  • Adjusts welding machines to achieve desired results.
  • Finishes weld various products to keep production moving.
  • Uses oxy-fuel torch to preheat parts prior to welding.
  • Cleans welded areas using various tools.
  • Drills and reams holes in poles as required.
  • Wears protective equipment to ensure safety.
  • Performs visual inspections to assure compliance with specifications.
  • Produces full-penetration welds as defined by American Welding Society code.
  • Uses overhead crane to load finished poles for transportation.
  • Welds other products using different welding processes.
  • Assists and instructs other welders and fitters as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic shop mathematics including addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and decimals.
  • Proficiency in reading complex prints and specifications.
  • Ability to properly use a weld gauge.
  • Ability to read and write.
