Overview

Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products for residential and low-rise non-residential buildings in North America. The Fitter and Welder position involves welding and fitting skills, requiring adherence to safety rules and the ability to interpret blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Competent in welding and fitting skills for various certifications.
  • Fit up all types of rigid frame columns, rafters, and beam canopies according to specifications.
  • Understand safety rules and precautions necessary for a manufacturing environment.
  • Achieve and maintain AWS and CWB certifications.
  • Check work assignments and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Measure, mark, count, and locate components in an assembly.
  • Position sub-assemblies using clamping devices and material handling equipment.
  • Use tools and measuring devices to join parts according to blueprints.
  • Weld components in place using various welding techniques.
  • Install metal tags to identify parts and use personal identification stamp.
  • Maintain correct numerical and alphabetical sequences.
  • Practice continuous improvement in the work area.
  • May be assigned other projects or duties by Team Leader.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of one year experience welding and fitting in a production environment or valid welding certification.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification.
  • Experience with forklift and/or overhead crane operation is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds continually above shoulder height and below the waist.
