Overview

Amentum, NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider, is seeking a Machinist II to join their team. This role involves precision machining and assembly of parts and tools for deep space exploration, contributing to exciting challenges in human space exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, layout, machine and assemble parts and tools to precision tolerances.
  • Set and operate various machining equipment such as lathes and milling machines.
  • Determine the sequence of machining operations and cutting tools to be used.
  • Make complete layouts on parts involving compound angles.
  • Set up machines to perform operations independently.
  • Check machine setups and parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Offer technical direction to engineers and customers.
  • Work from detailed drawings, templates, and oral instructions.
  • Operate machines for various machining operations.
  • Program and operate in at least one CNC language.
  • Train less experienced machinists and inspect work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Organize and store inventory and safety equipment.
  • Use lift equipment as required.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of machinist experience.
  • Familiarity with at least one CNC programming language.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) if applicable.
