Overview

Icarus is focused on reclaiming the Stratosphere through the development of solar-powered aircraft capable of flying at 60,000 ft for extended periods. They are seeking Technicians with various experience levels to help transform parts and ideas into operational aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, modify, repair, and test aircraft hardware.
  • Support mechanical assembly, wiring, avionics installation, propulsion integration, and flight hardware preparation.
  • Work from engineering drawings, CAD, build instructions, checklists, and verbal direction.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, adhesives, fasteners, fixtures, and basic test equipment.
  • Help fabricate and assemble lightweight structures, brackets, harnesses, panels, mounts, fixtures, and aircraft components.
  • Support inventory, kitting, part organization, receiving, labeling, and factory cleanliness.
  • Inspect your own work and catch problems before they become flight issues.
  • Support ground testing, system checkouts, packing, transport, field operations, and flight test prep.
  • Work closely with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot problems and improve builds.
  • Do whatever needs to get done to help the aircraft fly.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building, assembling, repairing, maintaining, or fabricating real hardware.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools.
  • High attention to detail and pride in clean workmanship.
  • Practical problem-solving ability.
  • Willingness to learn across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and test.
  • Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and low ego.
  • Comfortable working in a factory, shop, lab, or field environment.
  • Able to follow instructions, ask good questions, and improve quickly.
  • Able to move fast without being sloppy.
