Overview
The Mechanic III position at a global leader in food and beverage ingredients involves repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate should have experience in food manufacturing equipment and be capable of following instructions.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand electrical schematics to troubleshoot equipment.
- Observe equipment functionality for necessary adjustments or replacements.
- Complete preventative maintenance work as scheduled.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical breakdowns.
- Perform maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Complete changeovers as needed.
- Weld and machine parts using shop equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints.
- Service and maintain motors, conveyors, and production equipment.
- Make recommendations to improve equipment efficiency.
- Report and act to prevent food safety and quality issues.
- Identify and repair mechanical breakdown causes.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks.
- Rebuild mechanical assemblies.
- Operate production equipment.
- Work off ladders and aerial platforms.
- Use hand power tools.
- Create and complete Work Orders in CMMS.
- Perform building repairs as needed.
- Follow safety procedures including LOTO.
- Attend safety meetings.
- Understand and follow good manufacturing practices.
- Familiar with OSHA safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Five to seven years of experience as a maintenance mechanic required.
- Experience with internet, spreadsheets, and MRP preferred.
- Certificates such as Certified Welding Certificate, Journeyman Machinist Certificate, Boiler Training Certificate, and Better Processing School preferred.
- Understanding of production processing and quality control measurements.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Ability to solve problems with concrete variables.
- Must wear appropriate PPE and comply with safety policies.
- Ability to stay updated on new products and techniques.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Good communication skills required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work weekends and overtime with little notice.
