Overview

The RWJBH Mechanic performs a wide variety of maintenance duties in and around the buildings of the Medical Center complex, assisting tradesmen and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment safely and effectively. Responsibilities

  • Assists tradesman or leadsman with special projects as needed.
  • Installs and repairs locks, doors, windows and screens.
  • Performs general carpentry work.
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance on non-clinical hospital equipment and inspects the equipment for safety.
  • Repairs or replaces broken or worn parts as required.
  • Repairs and troubleshoots plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets, and drain lines.
  • Cleans and snakes out clogs if needed.
  • Repairs or replaces ceiling grids, tiles, and other basic items.
  • Repairs and maintains nurse call systems and tube systems throughout the hospital.
  • Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and two to three years of relevant work experience.
