Overview
Saipem is a global leader in engineering and construction for the energy and infrastructure sectors, focusing on complex onshore and offshore projects. The Offshore Structural Engineer will support EPCI projects in the Americas region, performing structural calculations, design for lifting and rigging, and seafastening.
Responsibilities
- Design incorporated subsea structures and associated installation aids and sea-fastening for deepwater and shallow water field development.
- Perform structural analyses, calculations, design, verification, and specification writing as assigned by the Subsea Structural Lead.
- Provide data to Designers for the creation of 3D and 2D design drawings and review those drawings.
- Interface with other Project Specialists and Designers for project coordination.
- Gain experience about design limitations and constraints imposed by offshore installation.
- Support the Subsea Structural Lead in coordinating and reviewing technical activities.
- Participate in project progress, engineering coordination, interface, technical review, HSE, and risk assessment meetings.
- Design structural systems and components focusing on engineering robustness and cost optimization.
- Select relevant design loads and boundary conditions for installation and in-place configurations.
- Ensure compliance of selected designs with structural functionalities and offshore constraints.
- Select standard profiles and materials to simplify procurement.
- Ensure permanent structures are reliable for long-term use without maintenance.
- Liaise with other Project discipline teams for proper project completion.
- Define load and boundary condition assumptions for structural analyses.
- Use industry calculation software for structural capacity demonstration.
- Provide necessary data for 3D and 2D design drawings and supervise steel structures design.
- Review Client technical documentation and respond to comments.
- Write design reports and calculation notes.
- Supervise the setup of bill of quantities or material take off.
Requirements
- Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mechanical or civil).
- 3-5 years of experience as a structural engineer in Offshore Oil and Gas or Wind industries.
- Fluency in English.
- Knowledge of FEA suites (SACS, ABAQUS, or ANSYS) and CAD (Autocad, Inventor, or Solidworks).
