Overview
As a Generator Repair Technician (Winder) at GE, you will be responsible for the inspection, disassembly, assembly, repair, refurbishment, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical components in Turbine Generators, focusing on the Generator Rotating Field.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical disassembly, refurbishment, and reassembly of generator rotors using various tools.
- Work according to technical drawings and procedures with minimal supervision.
- Braise copper winding connectors using propane torches and induction heaters.
- Conduct electrical diagnostic tests according to established procedures.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects.
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED or equivalent or 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical or repair field.
- Associate’s Degree / Trade School Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with small to large generators, electric motors, stator, or electrical component winding.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with assembling and disassembling end bells and retaining rings.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience brazing by torch or induction.
- Experience performing electrical testing.
- Apprenticeship card from a state-certified apprenticeship program is a plus.

Additional Information
- This position is 100% onsite at GE Atlanta Service Center in Chamblee, GA.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, including off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
