Overview

Dover Precision Components is part of Dover Corporation’s Pumps and Process solutions segment, delivering performance-critical solutions across various markets including oil & gas and power generation. The Babbitt Technician position involves cleaning, tinning, and babbitting materials for bearings, ensuring high-quality standards and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Works from routings, drawings, process sheets, setup sheets, and verbal instructions.
  • Follows babbitting standard operating procedures including cleaning and acid washing of components.
  • Dips or coats components in molten tin and adds babbitt using spinning or static pouring methods.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area to 5S standards.
  • Performs work assignments in a safe manner, wearing required protective gear.
  • Fills out in-process inspection reports as required.
  • Notifies supervisor of damaged material and discrepancies.
  • Disassembles bearings as required.
  • Determines areas that need to be repaired.
  • Inspects own work to ensure tolerances and finishes are as prescribed.
  • Reassembles bearings as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Determines the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Ability to set-up manual machines.
  • Experience machining finish-grade components to tight tolerances.
  • TIG and/or welding experience.
  • Experience with ultrasonic testing and dye penetrate testing.
  • General bearing knowledge.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans.
