Overview
FairWind Inc. is a global leader in wind turbine installation and service solutions, specializing in maintenance, commissioning, and troubleshooting services for various wind turbine models, including GE. As a GE Wind Maintenance Technician, you will ensure the smooth operation and safety of GE wind turbines through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of GE wind turbines to identify any mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on turbine components, ensuring continued operational efficiency.
- Replace faulty parts, perform upgrades, and ensure all components are in optimal working condition.
- Adhere to GE maintenance documentation and checklists during maintenance activities.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols, ensuring proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards on all job sites.
- Report any safety concerns and participate in safety training and tailboard meetings.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest GE wind turbine technologies and industry best practices.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Lead and GE technical support to resolve complex turbine issues efficiently.
- Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records, including logs for LOTO, PDRs, tailboards and maintenance checklists.
- Report and communicate effectively with site management and the Maintenance Lead Technician to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in wind energy or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in wind turbine maintenance, specifically on GE turbines.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using hydraulic, battery, and hand torque tools.
- Familiarity with GE wind turbine technologies, maintenance procedures, and diagnostic tools.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with the team and report to management.
- Excellent organizational skills for keeping accurate maintenance records and logs.
- Required: GWO certifications (BST, BTTI, BTTH, BTTE, BTTB, ART, SART).
- Preferred: GE Wind Turbine certifications such as Preventative Maintenance and Tech Essentials.
