Overview

The Welder - Night Shift role involves manual welding and participation in Lean Manufacturing initiatives, with a focus on quality and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and fabricate from drawings related to carbon and alloy steel metal fabrication.
  • Perform layout, fit-up, and weld-outs of valve assemblies and structural supports.
  • Interpret weld procedures and adjust welding equipment settings.
  • Tack-weld all fit-ups and perform final welding in all positions.
  • Weld carbon, alloy steels, and stainless steel using various processes.
  • Identify materials, prepare for welding, and manually grind bevels.
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives within the department.
  • Assist the Shop Foreman in directing and coaching employees on Lean practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Must pass Quality Assurance tests and be certified in at least 4 welding areas.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing is required.
  • Prior experience with hard facing in commercial, nuclear, or safety-related environments is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills are necessary.
  • High school diploma or GED required; or equivalent experience.
