Overview

The Instrument Fitter is responsible for fabricating and installing conduit, tubing, and piping, as well as installing instruments and supports. The role requires a combination of technical skills and the ability to follow safety protocols in various work environments.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints, or other drawings.
  • Identify, recognize, and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools appropriate for the job.
  • Recognize various materials used in piping systems and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques.
  • Select and safely use appropriate equipment such as manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill to fabricate and install conduit, tubing, and piping systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill to install supports.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of electronic and pneumatic instruments.
  • Demonstrate ability to read and understand literature supplied by vendors to install site-specific equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or G.E.D.
  • 3 years of experience.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • TWIC required.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with minimal infractions.
  • Ability to use standard and/or metric rule to measure.
  • Demonstrate ability to use basic math calculations for measuring and cutting pipes accurately.
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions.
  • Ability to teach others when needed.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for problem-solving and decision-making.
