Overview

The Collision Repair 'A' Body/Refinisher at METRO is responsible for performing all phases of collision repair and refurbishment on METRO's revenue vehicles. This role requires proficiency in using specialized tools and equipment, diagnosing problems, and ensuring quality finishes while adhering to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently on mixing, color matching, priming, and painting of METRO vehicles.
  • Prepare surfaces by removing old covers and performing related duties for quality finishes.
  • Use specialized tools, equipment, paint guns, and welders to complete repairs.
  • Repair and refurbish transit buses according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform work in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Identify and order parts necessary for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety, completing reports accurately.
  • Assist other Maintenance employees as directed by the Mechanical Foreman.
  • Participate in ongoing training in accordance with METRO's Maintenance Training Program.
  • Provide excellent customer service to METRO's internal and external customers.
  • Apply Safety Management System methods in daily routines and support safety plans.
  • Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce accidents.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; graduation from a related technical school is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the METRO Collision Repair 'B' Training Module is required.
  • ASE Collision Certification and/or collision repair experience preferred.
  • Automotive Service Excellence Certification (ASE) required: B2 Painting and Refinishing, B3 Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair.
  • A valid Commercial Texas Driver's License 'P' Passenger endorsement is required.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain additional certification/licenses as required.
  • Complete knowledge of all tools and equipment related to job classification.
  • Must maintain a basic set of personal hand tools for repairs.
  • Ability to complete written reports, records, and forms.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
