Overview

At NJ TRANSIT, you'll join us in transforming the third-largest transportation agency in North America. We are committed to delivering safe, reliable service that gets customers to their destinations on time, and we are looking for a reliable and experienced Welder to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and other written instructions and diagrams.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts for welding.
  • Produce welds that are 100% X-ray quality and demonstrate knowledge in safe rigging practices.
  • Walk over and work on top of fixed, overhead fixed and movable railroad bridges.
  • Climb stairwells and ladders with fall prevention equipment.
  • Demonstrate complete knowledge in welding, rigging, fabrication, and torching.
  • Express knowledge of industrial safety and OSHA guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must pass physical welding test AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code for unlimited thickness in all positions.
  • Must be a Certified Welder.
  • Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and full understanding of all safety codes and procedures.
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including confined spaces at various heights.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Possess physical ability to use various types of hand and power tools.
  • Possess exceptional problem solving and team leadership skills.
  • Provide a valid Driver’s License and High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successfully pass the pre-screening process including physical and drug test, employment verification, criminal history, and driving background checks.

  • Structural Welders must be willing and able to travel to any of our NJ Transit locations as required.
