Overview

Ballard's Commercial team is seeking 3 Field Service Technicians for the East Coast (New York) and 2 Technicians for Northern/Southern California. The role involves the repair, refurbishment, testing, and maintenance of fuel cell modules and components, ensuring high quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair, retrofit, refurbishment, and reconditioning activities for fuel cell modules and components.
  • Execute mechanical and electrical repairs according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Conduct functional testing, leak testing, and verification activities to ensure equipment performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to repair and refurbishment processes.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues on fuel cell modules.
  • Support testing activities and assist in identifying root causes of product failures.
  • Collaborate with advanced support teams and engineering to resolve technical issues.
  • Travel frequently to customer and operational sites for maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Provide timely and professional technical support in the field.
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers.
  • Train customers and service partners on module repair procedures and maintenance best practices.
  • Deliver hands-on instruction and technical guidance for equipment operation.
  • Maintain accurate work logs, repair records, and service documentation.
  • Document all repair and testing activities in accordance with quality management requirements.
  • Provide detailed feedback on product performance and service trends.

Requirements

  • Technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent education in a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in field service, equipment maintenance, or a hands-on technical service environment.
  • Experience with fuel cells, hydrogen systems, or industrial equipment is an asset.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and service documentation systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Additional Information

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently for customer support.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials and equipment safely.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
