Overview

The UH-60 Aircraft Mechanic I is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing various aircraft systems, including structure, landing gear, and engines. The role requires a valid A&P license or significant aviation maintenance experience, and involves performing inspections and repairs to ensure aircraft safety and functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls.
  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures and functional components using various tools and equipment.
  • Reads and interprets maintenance manuals and technical data to determine repair methods.
  • Performs various inspections including 100-hour and periodic checks on aircraft engines.
  • Inspects jet engines and components for defects and tests engine operation using diagnostic equipment.
  • Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components and reassembles engines in aircraft.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
  • Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
  • Supervises jacking and towing of aircraft and maintains accurate maintenance records.
  • May specialize in structural repairs or engine repair and may require FAA licensing.
  • Performs other qualified duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid up-to-date A&P license or three years aviation maintenance experience.
  • Two years rotary wing aircraft experience and two years on the assigned MDS (UH60).
  • All experience must be within the last six years.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Tools are required; must possess own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox.
  • Good communication skills and ability to troubleshoot entire aircraft systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical systems principles.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures.
  • Ability to use common hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting technical data.
