Overview

The Welder position involves performing welding requirements for a school district in a safe and efficient manner. The role requires establishing procedures for welding operations, maintaining inventory, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes procedures for the regular welding requirements of all school facilities and equipment.
  • Selects welding supplies and maintains an appropriate inventory.
  • Establishes procedures for the safe operation of welding equipment.
  • Demonstrates fabrication ability.
  • Welds various types of metals used in district buildings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Ability to complete tasks quickly, efficiently, and independently.
  • Ability to follow instructions and follow through on assignments.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to react resourcefully to varying conditions.
  • Subject to proficiency testing for welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow work orders.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions.
