Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company that focuses on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Seamer position involves operating a flux-core sub-arc welding seamer to ensure quality and precision in manufacturing steel shafts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a flux-core sub-arc welding seamer for continuous seam welding.
  • Repair and ensure quality of the shafts before inspection.
  • Calibrate weld head for material thickness.
  • Read and interpret blueprints for welding tasks.
  • Move pole shafts into the seaming processor.
  • Weld, grind, and repair poles prior to quality inspection.
  • Participate in department safety and LEAN activities.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • 0-1 year of welding experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use a tape measure.
  • Pass an AWS welder operator qualification test for SAW and GMAW.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to be trained on and pass tests for operating an overhead crane and forklift.
  • Setup, operate, and maintain equipment.
  • Acceptable work history and attendance record.
  • 3 years experience in a heavy manufacturing environment or graduation from an accredited trade school with one year of experience.

Additional Information

  • 2nd shift: Monday to Thursday from 5:00pm to 3:30am.
  • Starting pay: $28.07/hr with increases at 90-day and 6-month anniversaries.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and Flux-Core work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle.
