Overview

Join Komatsu as a Fabrication Welder, where you will certify in all position MIG welding and operate various welding equipment. This role requires interpreting blueprints and applying knowledge of metal properties to produce high-quality products.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints to determine necessary repairs.
  • Cut material from stock.
  • Use cutting torch or hand plasma to remove defective parts.
  • Examine work piece to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Use grinder to clean welds.
  • Use tow motor or hoist to move or position work piece when required.
  • Plan layout of weldments based on prints and sketches.
  • Position and align parts utilizing hand tools.
  • Weld parts utilizing a variety of welding processes.
  • Inspect work to ensure specifications and dimensions are correct.
  • Assemble final products and assist with the compatibility process.
  • Obey all safety rules and perform housekeeping assignments.
  • Record labor and verify quality with proper documents.

Requirements

  • Use basic math.

  • Proper crane operation.
  • Safety training (Haz-Com, Lock Out / Tag Out, PPE, MSDS, Housekeeping, Lifting, Electrical).
  • Knowledgeable of ISO.
  • Use presses.
  • Operate ironworker.
  • Mig weld / stick weld.
  • Hand Plasma operation.
  • Familiar with Burn Table operation.
  • Use cutting torch.
  • Operate grinders.
  • Operate band saw.
  • Operate press brake.
  • Familiar with bore tech operation.
  • Certified welder.
  • Two years experience in fabrication welding.

What you'll be running

Stick (SMAW) burns a flux-coated consumable rod and needs no shielding gas, so it works in wind, rain, and on dirty or rusted steel. That tolerance for bad conditions keeps it the default for field, structural, and repair work.
