Job Description

Overview

The Maintenance Technician at SSAB Houston is responsible for improving production by ensuring the electrical and mechanical equipment is installed and maintained in proper working condition. This role involves minimizing downtime and costs while leading the Maintenance Department and coordinating with contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and repair the Temper Line and Plasma/Oxy-Fuel Table electronics and equipment.
  • Lead and perform general maintenance on plant equipment and inform the Operations Manager of additional resource needs.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 manuals and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate maintenance tasks with production schedules during shutdowns.
  • Direct the maintenance department and outside contractors to ensure timely and budget-compliant task completion.
  • Manage the computerized preventive and predictive maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Generate and improve maintenance PM programs and identify potential equipment issues.
  • Communicate with Operators to ensure smooth operation and detect equipment problems.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic pneumatics, and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical education and a minimum of 3 years related maintenance experience.

Additional Information

  • Position is full time, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime.
  • Rotating shifts which may include weekends.
