Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

The Saw operator is responsible for setting up and operates saws to cut specified lengths in titanium, stainless, or other metal billets or parts. Ensures safety and quality protocols are followed and integrity of identification on each piece cut.

Role and Responsibilities:

Reads work order to locate cutting requirements on stock, to determine dimensions and tolerances, and to determine metal to be cut, type of blade to be used, blade tension, cutting speed, feed rate, table angles, and positions of table stops and guides. Relieves saw blade support and drive wheel tension. Places saw blade over wheels and resets tension to change blade and adjust tension. Turns controls to set prescribed cutting speed, feed rate, and table angle. Loosens table stops and guides and positions them to align and secure workpiece. Places stock on cutting table and clamps it into position. Starts saw and manually guides stock or engages automatic feed to cut straight line. Turns controls to start airflow to blow metal cuttings away from keft. Verifies conformance to customer specifications. Calculates and marks layout lines. Cuts billet, product, and test samples for a broad range of applications. Ensures that identification is on each piece cut. Inspects for defects in the material. Operate overhead bridge cranes and jib cranes Operator forklift and side loader. Ability to work with external and internal customers. Ability to read and react to verbal and non-verbal communication while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Perform other duties as assigned by Management. Insures adherence to company safety requirements and federal safety regulations Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Highschool Diploma or GED Minimum 1-4 years quality experience in a manufacturing environment. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Physical Demands: This is primarily an warehouse environment position. Sitting, Standing and possibly heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs) may be required. Temperature conditions will vary with the outside environment; shop floor is not climate controlled.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years’ Experience in metals manufacturing Previous experience operation a vertical band saw Excellent Communication and Presentation skills (written, verbal and non- verbal), ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. Must work well in a team environment and commit to continuous improvement.
