Job Description

Overview

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains machine tools and industrial machines.
  • Diagnoses machine malfunctions and determines the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Dismantles machines or equipment to examine parts for defects.
  • Replaces defective parts with new or repaired parts.
  • Assembles and test-operates machines to verify correction of malfunctions.
  • Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
  • Assembles and welds auxiliary pieces of equipment as required.
  • Burns to remove various components of machines as required.
  • Inspects and measures finished parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
  • Communicates with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions.
  • Maintains a clean work environment.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two to four years of trade school and/or work experience or apprenticeship.
  • Ability to use and interpret complicated blueprints and advanced shop mathematics.
  • Ability to analyze, plan, and perform a sequence of operations.
  • Must exercise sound judgment in making decisions related to machine repairs.
  • Employee is required to supply own tools.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
