Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic position at Ferrara in Forest Park, IL, involves maintaining production and facility equipment to meet plant production goals. This role is open to military-affiliated job seekers and requires the ability to work overtime and varying hours.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles, inspects, reassembles, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces malfunctioning parts or equipment using test equipment and meters.
• Cleans, lubricates and adjusts guides, flap tuckers, sealing jaws, sensors, and timing for process systems of packaging equipment.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures as per schedule.
• Installs change parts on production machinery to run different sizes or shapes of products.
• Reads blueprints, diagrams, and machinery manuals to diagnose problems and learn proper equipment operation.
• Installs new equipment.
• Actively seeks to find and correct problems in assignment area with high supervision.
• Communicates conditions of equipment by completing maintenance records and informing supervisors of significant problems.
• Displays cooperation by working closely with production personnel.
• Improves work-related skills by pursuing outside schooling or plant-provided programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School/GED required.
• 3 years of prior experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic OR completion of a 2-year Technical Degree in a related field and 1 year of experience.
• Experience must include diagnostic troubleshooting, repairing and replacing defective parts, and adjusting machinery.
• Experience in a Food Manufacturing Environment is preferred.
