Overview

The Lead Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment, ensuring safe operations and compliance with regulations. This role involves maintaining records, diagnosing issues, and leading in the absence of supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment using industry standard methods.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance records.
• Schedule and complete preventive maintenance for all equipment.
• Maintain a safe and clean shop facility.
• Review D.V.I.R. reports and perform necessary repairs.
• Provide accurate labor hours for each product line.
• Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain and repair heavy diesel, gas, and electrically operated equipment and vehicles.
• Complete reports, work orders, and order parts as required.
• Assist in reviewing mechanical write-ups and coordinating repair schedules.
• Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety regulations.
• Utilize a variety of power and hand tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Conform to applicable laws and company policies.
• Assume leadership role in the absence of the Supervisor/Manager.
• Keep up with the latest technology through technical manuals and training.
• Attend safety and branch meetings.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED desired.
• Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Completion of DOT certification for air brake inspection and adjustment.
• Possess two years practical experience in heavy truck repair.
• Complete all company provided technical training and continuing education programs.
• Must meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions.
