Overview

The Groundman position is an entry-level role focused on the construction and maintenance of underground electrical distribution systems, providing a pathway to a rewarding career in the power industry. The position emphasizes safety and teamwork while working outdoors in various environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of underground distribution systems with a focus on safety.
  • Assist in the installation and repair of underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
  • Maintain excavation equipment including backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme weather.
  • Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use and understanding of insulated protective cover.
  • Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform rigorous physical labor.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts.
