Overview

The General Laborer position at Orion involves providing support to skilled craft workers at marine project locations. The role emphasizes safety, quality, delivery, and teamwork, with a strong foundation of integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled craft workers such as Welders and Pipefitters/Carpenters.
  • Move work pieces, tools, and supplies manually or by hand truck.
  • Lift, move, hold, or clamp work pieces as directed.
  • Clean work pieces to remove impurities.
  • Connect hoses and cables for welding tasks.
  • Start gasoline engines for electric generators.
  • Remove tags and move finished work.
  • Attach grappling equipment for crane movement.
  • Bolt, nail, align, and block under forms.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment.
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications.
  • Mix and finish concrete.
  • Position joints and seal pipe sections.
  • Erect scaffolding and braces.
  • Paint or spread protective materials.
  • Perform various tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year construction or craft worker helper experience.
  • Previous experience in Welding, Pipefitting, Piledriving, or Carpentry is desirable.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Willingness to complete safety or job training.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Capability to work within accuracy standards.
