Overview

Stewart & Stevenson is hiring a Mechanical Assembler III in Houston, TX. The role involves performing assembly processes, reworks, and repairs on manufactured equipment and requires proficiency in reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of assembly operations associated with manufacturing products and equipment.
  • Assemble parts including fitting, mounting, alignment, adjusting, and operational testing.
  • Promote and contribute to safety awareness.
  • Participate in quality and continuous improvement processes.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on production equipment.
  • Read blueprints and follow work instructions.
  • Use basic hand and power tools and measurement tools.
  • Perform manufacturing math calculations and use specialized lifting equipment.
  • Troubleshoot scenarios to determine efficient repair methods.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Two to ten years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy equipment assembly experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow work instructions.
  • Proficient in basic hand and power tools.
  • Proficient in basic measurement tools like tape measures and rulers.
  • Basic understanding of calibration tools such as torque wrenches.
  • Good understanding of MS computer programs like Word and Email.
  • Good knowledge of fluid power schematics and associated symbols.
  • Good understanding of quality policies and standards.
  • Ability to lead a project or crew at times.
  • Good communication skills and customer service.

Additional Information

  • Position located at 10750 Telge Road, Houston, TX 77095.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift 65 lbs.
  • Requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
  • May require working more than 8 hours on one shift.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and mobile equipment.
