Overview

The Deputy Corporate Manager of Welding will assist in managing the Welding and Applied Technology Center and support the Corporate Welding and NDE Services program at Bechtel, a company with a long history of delivering successful projects globally. The role involves project resource planning, technology advancement identification, and collaboration with various teams to enhance welding solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the Welding and Applied Technology Center operations and lead internal/external design of experiments development.
  • Support the Corporate Welding & NDE Program by assisting customer business development and organizing WATC tours and events.
  • Estimate costs for WATC development projects and provide rapid solutions to project teams for complex welding issues.
  • Identify new welding equipment, technologies, and methods that provide competitive advantages.
  • Lead welding research and development initiatives to apply innovative technology solutions.
  • Champion welding initiatives that align with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Prepare technical presentations for management, welding engineers, and customers.
  • Contribute to industry advisory committees and peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • Graduate degree in Welding Engineering or Materials Science Engineering; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience executing global EPC construction projects with deep knowledge of welding processes.
  • Experience managing technology programs, strategic initiatives, and diverse teams.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, focusing on steels, stainless steels, and nickel-based materials.
