Overview

At Wilson Sporting Goods Co., we empower every human to live like an athlete through passion, creativity, and innovation. We are looking for an Advanced R&D Machinist to join our R&D team at our Innovation Center in Schiller Park, contributing directly to product innovation in a hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

  • Study sketches, models, and descriptions to determine materials, machining approach, and sequence of operations.
  • Compute dimensions, plan layouts, determine assembly methods, and build tooling to spec within scheduled timelines.
  • Run lathes, CNC mills, grinders, cutting tables, and other shop equipment with precision.
  • Check dimensions, alignment, and clearances; recommend design modifications based on function and manufacturability.
  • Fabricate prototypes, construct fixtures, sharpen tools, and machine close-tolerance parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Work closely with the Prototype Shop Manager and use Wrike to track timelines and updates.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED plus a minimum of 2-5 years of experience setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of MasterCam and SolidWorks.
  • Ability to resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.
  • Basic computer skills including competence in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to receive, understand, and follow all written and oral instructions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
