Transocean is focused on being the employer of choice for the drilling industry, pushing performance through technological advances and passion for work. The Able Bodied Seaman is responsible for cargo handling, maintenance, and safety-related tasks on marine equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out cargo handling duties and manual labor as assigned.
  • Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces and equipment.
  • Assist Mates with preventative maintenance and inspections on marine equipment.
  • Maintain and inspect firefighting, lifesaving, safety, and watertight integrity equipment.
  • Operate and maintain survival craft and rescue boats.
  • Assist with helicopter operations and stand lookout or helmsman watch.
  • Remove waste and debris from the rig and dispose of it properly.
  • Sweep and wash decks and structures.
  • Keep hand tools in good condition and properly stored.
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Participate in emergency drills and respond to emergency situations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or relevant craft certificate.
  • Successful Military Discharge preferred for U.S. candidates.
  • Graduate of Trade School or University preferred.
  • Valid unlimited Able Seafarer credential.
  • STCW 95 II/5 certification where applicable.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
  • Norway Specific: Qualifications per relevant authority requirements.
